The relational arts invite us into a deeper experience of presence, honesty, aliveness, and connection to ourselves and others.

Like martial arts, we cultivate certain skills, self-awareness and personal unfolding. While in martial arts this is done through movement and combat, in relational arts it’s through communication. We bring meditative awareness and acceptance to what’s happening in the moment, and share it with another person or the group. When we slow down, focus, and reveal what’s going on between us here and now, we create space for deeper meetings with the people around us and deeper intimacy with ourselves.

In this group we’ll be exploring a practice called circling. You will be guided through paired and group exercises that draw your attention to the present moment experience of being in connection with others and yourself. We’ll practise some of its basic elements: sensing and noticing, owning your experience, and learning to be with others in their world.

If you’re interested in the following then circling might be for you:

  • Practicing slowing down, paying more attention to what you’re feeling
  • Becoming more aware of the feelings/emotions/thoughts that come up when you’re interacting with other people
  • Getting curious about other people’s worlds
  • Connecting more deeply and intimately with others
  • Exploring what’s vulnerable in you and moving out of your comfort zone
  • Giving yourself permission to show up fully as yourself
  • Strengthening your self-leadership, autonomy, and sovereignty both in the practice group and in life

Circling is transformative work, as a result it can be challenging.
You may be confronted with reactions/emotions/experiences in yourself or others that you find uncomfortable, overwhelming, or difficult to be with. Circling invites us to bring awareness and curiosity to these feelings, and to explore the full range of how it can feel to be in connection with others. It is also a space to cultivate our self-leadership skills, and to find how we can stand in our sovereignty at all times – staying connected to what you want and need, and engaging with the session in a way that feels right for you. If you’d like to discuss this further, please reach out at circlingwithnoor@gmail.com
